No, actually. In the United States, Virgin Mobile uses Sprint's network to provide service. The iphone 3GS is currently designed to only use the network technology provided by ATT and T-Mobile, so unless Apple releases the iphone for Verizon or Sprint, ATT and T-Mobile are the only networks an unlocked iphone will work on.

Virgin available in CDMA and GSM.In use Virgin is cdma network. In United Kingdom it is GSM network. So if you buy an unlocked iphone 3GS,you can use with any GSM network sim card. You cannot use with cdma network sim card. But unlocked Iphone 3gs costs very high than a locked iphone.I would suggest you to buy a locked iphone 3gs from online site like ebay or amazon.com and unlock it using the remote unlock service from url://www.mobileunlocksolutions.com/apple-iphone-3gs/rs1wp9/ then use with any GSM network sim card.
