They put you through several screens where you have to confirm your bid--that's when you get your chance to back out. Once you press that final Confirm bid button, you are committed if you win. At this point, all you can do is hope someone outbids you or get ready to pay for your the item if you win.

If you want to retract a bid:

  • Review the restrictions for canceling a bid in an auction-style listing on ebay

  • fill out a Bid Retraction form with a valid reason to cancel the bid

  • If you want to cancel a Best Offer, use the Best Offer Cancellation form

  • You can discuss the terms with the seller if you no longer want to buy an item

You have to be careful about the retraction because if your retractions are high sellers may blocks you
